How Much Does CarPlay Cost?
Nothing. Lexus offers another break for you as well when it comes to the cost of CarPlay on your vehicle. You don’t need to pay for any type of subscription service, and you won’t pay anything additional once you get your CarPlay vehicle. CarPlay comes as a standard feature when you purchase a Lexus model that offers CarPlay.
I Don’t Have CarPlay, Can I Get a Lexus CarPlay Upgrade?
Lexus is currently working on its own update to bring CarPlay functionality to its older models that have the Enform. 2.0 infotainment system. Currently, it’s a work in progress, and Lexus doesn’t offer this yet. To learn more, go to the Lexus USA website.
However, you can use an option from Pioneer, which has a bevy of ideas to help retrofit your car. If you want something high-end, you can use the Pioneer SPH-DA120, which gives you a 6.2” display and is compatible with an iPhone 5 or higher. You can integrate this into your steering wheel and also use Amazon Prime music and Google Play. This will cost you around $470 dollars.
If you want something different, then consider the Pioneer SPH-DA120 Smartphone Receiver, which comes with a 6.2” display. You’ll get the CarPlay integration you want as well as Siri Eyes Free, Android Music, and access to all compatible apps. The price is about $450.
Pioneer also provides options with larger 7” screens, many of them starting at about $700.
How to Setup and Use Your Lexus CarPlay
To get your CarPlay setup on your Lexus, do the following:
- Connect your iPhone to your car using a USB cable.
- You’ll see a prompt on your infotainment screen. Tap on “Enable Once” or “Always Enable” if you never want your car to ask you this question again.
- If you want to swap the enable feature later and shut it off, go to Menu, then Setup, then General, and switch the Apply CarPlay feature on or off.
- Currently, Lexus does not offer wireless CarPlay systems.
